Virtual Doula Support/Birth Visioning: (Sliding Scale $75-$175)
+Includes everything listed under ‘In-Person Support’, except for continuous support during labor and birth; additionally, all meetings will happen virtually.
(This is a good option if you don’t yet feel comfortable with in-person support, and/or are more interested in extra support and help with planning/what to expect leading up to labor and birth, as well as assistance prepping for and processing the postpartum time. See below (“What Can We Address…”) for some of what we might cover during virtual visits.)
What Can We Address During our Meetings/Check-Ins?
While what we end up discussing will primarily center around your unique personality/needs/concerns, here is a (non-exhaustive) list of some of the things we might cover:
+help making a birth plan/visioning/ (whatever language you prefer to use)
+processing of fears/concerns about labor/birthing/transitioning into parenthood/adding another child to the mix/etc.
+comfort measures during labor (tips, techniques, additional resources/suggestions)
+postpartum pre-planning (how can you set yourself up for a peaceful and restorative postpartum time?)
+care providers/birth setting: do your current choices align with your vision (etc)?
+nourishment/herbs to aid health/labor/healing right now, during labor, and after the birth
+creating a safe and comfortable birth environment/positive affirmations for labor
+discussing/gathering extra systems of support, in advance of postpartum (esp. during a pandemic)
+Postpartum: processing birth/writing or recording your birth story + checking in about sleep/nourishment/physical/mental health
…& WHATEVER ELSE YOU NEED/WANT TO TALK ABOUT!
Which Areas/Hospitals/Zip Codes Will You Travel To?
I’m currently open to traveling anywhere within a 45 minute drive of the 21210 zip code—this will most likely mean anywhere in Baltimore City or Baltimore County, and perhaps some areas a bit further afield as well!
How Does the Sliding Scale Work?
The higher price is the “actual” fee for my services, but, I think people—especially pregnant people—need support more than ever right now, and so I want my services to be accessible to anyone, regardless of their current financial situation.
You decide where on the sliding scale you fall; I trust and value your honesty implicitly. No questions asked.
(Additionally, because I’m a newer doula, still working toward (though only a few births away from!) my certification, I’ve set my sliding scale on the lower end to reflect that, and not in any way to devalue the work of other doulas who’ve been in this game far longer than I have!)
